ENTREPRENEURSHIP FOR COMPOSERS

Composers are, by their very nature, entrepreneurs, but most collegiate programs do not include courses covering the business side of being a composer. Questions related to managing and maximizing income are often left to their post-graduate education, sometimes only offered through The School of Hard Knocks. This course aims to remedy that with lesson topics that will help composers diversify their income streams and make the most of each.

DESCRIPTION
Over the course of ten sessions composers will learn about various business structures and portfolio career tactics, in order to create a stable and sustainable income from their artistic pursuits.
Each composer will explore Performance Royalty Organizations (PROs), Distribution Models, and best practices for setting prices and negotiating commission fees. Members of the course will receive individual feedback on biographies, websites, and professional branding. A limited number of one-on-one sessions are also available for individualized strategic planning.
