Program Note
Mirabilis is defined as “wondrous” or “remarkable,” which seemed like appropriate terms to give the short fanfare-like work that conductor Steve Davis had asked me to write for the Interlochen World Youth Wind Symphony in 2014. Meant to start a concert off on a high note, so to speak, Mirabilis should be performed with a bright, happy energy and no-holds-barred enthusiasm (as well as a post-concert treat for the lucky individual playing the Trumpet 1 part)!
