Program Note
...one gallon of tears... was written in memory of the 239 victims on MH 370, which went missing since March 8, 2014 and has not been found. As a composer, the best way to express my condolences is through music.
...one gallon of tears... features the microtonal flexibility that a flute can execute. One can treat the flute duet an etude and introduction to microtones due to the stepwise nature—mostly descending—of the microtones that symbolizes tears.
— Hong-Da Chin
