Program Note
I wrote this set of contrasting miniatures while studying in Paris and drew my inspiration from the piano music of the mid-century Spanish composer, Federico Mompou.
Alternating fast and slow, each little piece briefly builds and explores a distinct musical world complete with its own mood and musical language.
Beyond the shared goal of the miniature form, there is no specific connection between these movements, nor order in which they must be performed. So, the player should feel welcome to pick individual movements or reorganize the set to suit one’s program.
