Program Note
Next Stop was originally conceived as a Cincinnati-specific public sound art piece that eventually would be installed at different locations along the Cincinnati Streetcar route. Both Tyler Niemeyer and I wrote short string quartet movements based on both the location of the streetcar stops and little musical tidbits from the The Goossens Fanfares (commissioned during the 1942–43 Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra season).
